INTERMEDIATE LEVEL KIT
Another design by Vintage1, a frequent visitor the the EZone. Vintage1 has designed planes before and is responsible
for our line of wood propeller kits. For this one he wanted a larger old timer that would fly on modern electrics. Inspired
by an older design by Bill Dean and adding a bit of his personal touch he came up with this really nice design with classic
curves. This version shares some of the outlines of the original, but, is a completely new structure, taking advantage of
laser cutting and electric components. This version is NOT suitable for IC power.
Old timers were designed for free flight and either diesel or glow power. They are typically very stable and can thermal
as well as a lot of gliders. Graceful lines are also a hallmark of this genre of airplane.
The construction is typical free flight with sticks and formers and a lot of stringers giving a nice profile. Control
is 3 channel, rudder, elevator and throttle.
The design power package is the Olumpus belt drive and sp600 on 3s1100 LiPo batteries. The airplane would also be a prime
candidate for the inexpensive bell outrunners.
