Vicki, the Laser Master, also has other hobbies besides cutting all those nice kits you folks like. She likes to make jewelry,
especially beaded stuff. After spilling a tube of seed beads, again, she asked me if I could make her a rack for the tubes.
In the "old days" I would have gone out to the shop, spent an hour with a drill press, and had a couple of blocks
of wood with holes in it.
The "modern" method was to get the CAD program fired up and laser cut some pieces of 1/8" liteply, complete
with tabs and slots. I do have to admit it made for a very light rack. While I was at it I put in some holes for the variety
of plies and cutters she uses.
Then, when trying to find a tool on my own building bench figured I should make my own tool holder. So, a bit of CAD
time and a few lite ply sheets later and I had one (the one with all the tools in it below). I lived with it a bit and made
some mods and made up a second one. It got in a picture on the EZone and some folks said they'd like one, so, decided to
offer them up as "kits".
I assembled mine by laying down the back, putting on the inner uprights, then the 'shelves'. Then slide the sides on.
Then "slobber" some glue over each of the tabs (med CA with kicker in my case).
The other picture shows the back of the rack. It is designed to overhang the back of a workbench where it could be screwed
in place. For those who want it flat against a wall or portable that part could be sawed off. The side of the small one
are extended toward the front for stability.
Dimensions of the large one are 23.5" wide, 6 1/2" deep and 8" high. The small one is 16.5" wide,
8" deep (shelves are 4"), and 6" high.
The racks are shipped as individual sheets. The customer must assemble the shelves. Glue is not included. Cigars (and/or
tools) are not included.
Thanks to Jack Stephens there are some assembly pictures to help you along with putting your rack together.
