The Morane Saulnier company made many models during and after WWI. Many of their models were monoplanes in a time when most
designers had moved to biplane and triplane construction for it's strength. The M-S AI was the last of the models to see
wervice in WWI and was flown by some famous French aces such as Charles Nungessor.
Despite some early problems with wing mounting the final versions of the AI were stonger than most airplanes of the period.
It was such a reliable and maneuverable airplane that C. Nungessor chose the AI as his show plane in the post WWI years.
Two other French pilots used the AI to set the record for the most consecutive loops, over 1000 of them, a record which stood
for many decades.
This design is a departure for Peter. It is a clamshell design with top and bottom halves. The framing is almost all
laser cut parts and assembles quickly. It took less than an afternoon to assemble the entire fuselage. The wings and tail
surfaces assembled almost as quickly.
Power is designed to be the inexpensive 'bell' motors. The prototype flew with one using a 2s battery and has quite good
performance from it. The model flies nicely and has very good control response including a very gentle stall.
