The battery safety switch is designed to provide a degree of warning when a Lithium Polymer batter is being charged. LiPo
batteries can generate tremendous heat and flame if charged in an improper manner, or, if a battery cell fails during a charge
cycle.
Keith Sparks experienced such a failure and found that the first sign of trouble in a charge was swelling of the battery
pack. If the charger can be shut off when swelling occurs then the battery will probably not split and start a fire. Keith
came up with a design for a safety switch that would emit an alarm if the pack starts to swell.
We offer the laser cut parts that make up the battery safety switch. The other components are listed below.
