For those of us who like WWI planes, finding wheels can really be frustrating. In our kits we include the ply and balsa sandwich
material to make the hub sections, but, I had a hard time finding where to buy the tire material at a reasonable price.
It is available in the UK from a couple of sources, but not so easily obtained in the US. I made some inquiries and found
a good source. The material is a neoprene cord, smooth on the outside, that can be cut to length and glued together for tires.
This material is included in our tire kits and in some of our airplane kits.
The cord is sold by the foot.
The 1/2" is good for 1/6th scale WWI planes (54" span), the 3/8" is good for 1/9th scale (35" span),
and the 1/4" is good for 30" size planes.
