INTERMEDIATE LEVEL KIT
A Peter Rake design airplane featured in Flying Scale Models as a free plan issue. Peter built and flew the prototype.
The Nieuport Monoplane is a pre-WWI racer. The Nieuport factory was famous for it's racers prior to WWI and their designs
ended up as the fast scouts and fighters in WWI. Noted for it's swooping shape of tail feathers, it seems more challenging
than it is.
The Monoplane is a nice example of early flight that is a straightforward build. Wing panels fit into the side of the
fuse and make a sturdy structure. The tailfeathers are made simple and light through the use of bent laminations for the
outlines. A bit daunting at first, this construction method is really very simple and makes building of rounded surfaces
much easier and stronger.
Control is 3 channel. The dihedral in the kit is adequate for good control using R/E/T. Designed to accomodate small
brushless outrunner motors and LiPo batteries. Flight characteristics are good. A nice slow flier meant for less windy days.
