54" (1/6th scale) SPAD XIII designed by Peter Rake

Prototype build thread on EZone

spadflt.jpg

Another Peter Rake plane. 1/6th scale SPAD XIII designed for sp600R power, but, works with many larger brushless motors and would probably be great with a Magnetic Mayhem as well.

The aircraft is larger and is NOT suitable for park flying. Will mix in well with the IC crowd at the local airfield and performs well. Flies and lands much easier than most warbirds.

You can see Peter's simple design and build techniques in these views. Box and former style construction for a relatively lightweight build.

The finished plane is a great semi-scale model of the SPAD XIII flown by LT Frank Luke, an American pilot known for shooting down observation balloons. Graphics furnished by Callie's Graphics (see her web site on the LINKS page).
